Carrying the motto “Fight On,” the submarine honours Sheean’s extraordinary bravery and sacrifice, a legacy that resonates deeply throughout the Royal Australian Navy (RAN).

Sheean’s story is a testament to the RAN’s belief that rank does not limit one’s capacity for greatness. His selfless actions during World War II, where he gave his life defending his shipmates aboard HMAS Armidale, continue to inspire generations of sailors. HMAS Sheean embodies this spirit, proving that every member of the RAN is capable of achieving remarkable and impactful feats.
