Collection: HMAS Farncomb

HMAS Farncomb is the second Collins-class submarine, entering Royal Australian Navy service in 1998. Built in South Australia and named for Vice Admiral Sir Harold Farncomb, she is equipped with advanced sensors and weapons for long-range patrols, anti-ship and anti-submarine warfare, and intelligence operations. Farncomb has played a key role in multilateral exercises and real-world operations, helping to refine and develop Australia’s modern submarine warfare expertise. Based at HMAS Stirling in Western Australia, she benefits from ongoing upgrades aimed at maintaining high operational and technological standards. Farncomb’s enduring service underscores the importance of the Collins class to Australia’s national security, contributing to the deterrent and surveillance posture of the RAN.
