FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) – Retro Navy Outfitters
Who is Retro Navy Outfitters for?
Retro Navy Outfitters is dedicated to current and former Royal Australian Navy members, as well as their families, friends, and supporters.
What makes your designs unique?
My designs are the product of over 15 years as a professional graphic designer and more than 20 years as a proud Navy spouse. I recognised a gap in the market for classy, meaningful apparel that truly honours the Royal Australian Navy community and its supporters. I combine my creative expertise with heartfelt experience and pour genuine passion into every design—reimagining classic Navy badges and insignia, alongside exclusive ‘Homefront’ motifs into retro-inspired designs. Each piece is a tribute to the pride, heritage, and unbreakable bonds shared by serving members, veterans, and their families, designed to celebrate and strengthen the community I care so deeply about.
What about Royal Australian Navy prohibited words, images and iconography regulations?
Every design that features protected Royal Australian Navy words, imagery, acronyms, or iconography is submitted for official review by both the Manager Navy Brand and the Manager Navy Badges. Only once full approval is granted are those designs uploaded to the website and made available for purchase. As a former Navy Brand Manager, I fully understand and respect the copyright, trademark, and usage regulations set by the Commonwealth. I remain committed to upholding these standards and protecting the integrity of Royal Australian Navy heritage in every product I create.
How does print-on-demand work?
At Retro Navy Outfitters, all apparel is fulfilled using a print-on-demand process. This means every item is custom made specifically for you after you place your order—there’s no pre-printed stock held in storage. We work with OGO, an Australian-based supplier, who uses premium AS Colour garments and prints locally in Melbourne using high-quality direct-to-garment (DTG) technology. This ensures a professional, long-lasting result that’s crafted just for you.
Why can’t I get a refund or return my order?
Because each item is printed to order, I’m unable to accept returns or offer refunds for change of mind, incorrect sizing, or individual preferences. Unlike mass-produced products, I can’t resell returned goods, as each one is personalised for a specific customer. Please read the Refund Policy page for in depth information.
I encourage you to check the size chart carefully before ordering and to reach out if you have any questions. This approach allows me to offer uniquely meaningful apparel while maintaining sustainability and avoiding overproduction—something I truly value.
How long will my order take to arrive?
Production (the process of printing on the garment) usually takes 2-7 business days, with postage and delivery time depending on your location. You’ll receive an email with tracking details once your order has shipped.
What if I need to change or cancel my order?
Orders cannot be changed or cancelled after purchase, as production commences once your order has been confirmed. Please read the Refund Policy page for in depth information.
What is your return policy?
Due to the personalised nature of our products, we have a strict no returns policy. Please read the Refund Policy carefully before making a purchase.
How do I care for my apparel?
Each garment comes with care instructions printed on the label on the tag at the neck of the item. Please read these instructions carefully prior to washing.
