For me, the name Hobart carries profound personal significance. My father served as a sailor (Radio Operator) on HMAS Hobart (II) during the Vietnam War, a period marked by extraordinary service and sacrifice. Hobart (II) undertook three deployments to Vietnam, providing vital naval gunfire support and enduring the tragic friendly fire incident in 1968, which claimed the lives of her crew and left an indelible mark on all who served, including my Dad.

HMAS Hobart (III) embodies the legacy of her predecessors and the enduring spirit of those who served before her She is not just a symbol of technological advancement and naval strength, but also a vessel that carries forward the courage, resilience, and camaraderie of generations of sailors who have called Hobart home.
