Sydney (V) holds a special place in my own family’s naval journey, as it was the last ship of my husband’s seagoing career. This connection adds a deeply personal layer to Sydney’s story-a story already rich with tradition, courage, and sacrifice. In 2023, Sydney (V) honoured the memory of the 645 Australians lost aboard Sydney (II) by visiting her final resting place, a poignant reminder of the ship’s enduring legacy and the sense of duty that binds all who serve her.

For our family, Sydney (V) is more than just a formidable warship; she is a symbol of dedication, transition, and the lasting bonds formed at sea. Her service continues to inspire pride in all who have sailed under her name, and in the families who support them ashore.
